We know you hoard those Taco Bell sauce packets and empty hundreds of them into little Tupperware containers at home so you can use your favorite flavor for dipping, slathering and drinking before bed. We’re not even here to judge you. But we are here to let you know that you don’t need to do it anymore—at least with your chips.
In what seems to be a saucehead’s dream come true, Taco Bell announced on Thursday that it would be releasing a new line of flavored tortilla chips nationwide. With three new chips and two explosive flavors based on the fast food taco chain’s hot sauce packets, snack lovers will never again have to lower a chip into a bowl of sauce.
The tortilla chip line begins with an original flavor. OK, fair, you have to start somewhere. Tostitos here we come. It’s with the other two flavors that things get interesting. For those who like a subtle, slow burn with chill chili peppers and a bit of cumin, the “Mild” sauce provides just the right amount of seasoning with not too much spice. For others who like a heated challenge, the “Fire” sauce amps it up with jalapeno and paprika.
Each bag is branded like the sauce packets, and would made a perfect complement to you Taco Bell wedding bouquet.
"This launch of our first line of sauce packet-inspired chips gives our fans a new way to access a taste of Taco Bell," said a representative in a statement. "Our sauce packets are one of the brand's most unique aspects and were the natural choice for both the flavors and packaging of our tortilla chips."
Keep an eye out for these chippies on shelves beginning in May. They’ll be available in a variety of sizes, ranging from the single-serve 1-ounce bags to the shareable 30-ounce bags.
Look out, Flamin’ Hot everything; Taco Bell is coming with sauce a-blazing.
