Looking for a twist on your morning latte? Tired of your same-old cappuccino? Get ready, because beginning today, the Starbucks is comin’ at you with 100 percent more options for your morning espresso.

You heard that right. Before, there was just one blend of espresso at the ‘Bucks. Now… there are two.

The coffee giant’s stores opened today with a surprise for its daily drinkers: a brand-spanking-new Blonde Espresso. Baristas sported yellow hats and the menu boards shone bright and blonde. Coffee fiends will now be able to add an extra level of customization to their drinks, with a choice between “Signature” or “Blonde” espresso.

Because your Venti Half-Caf Soy Latte with 12 pumps of Pumpkin Spice, double Whipped Cream and a splash of unicorn tears wasn’t already complicated enough.

The Blonde Espresso roast is the company’s first new core bean offering in over 40 years. In addition to being a new menu item, it will also be available in bags for customers to make at home, and in “Verismo” pods, for use with Starbucks’ home brewing machine.

“We set the standard for a dark, boldly roasted coffee and in this case, we broke a few of our own rules by taking a lighter approach to espresso which created a bright taste with sweet citrus notes and a smooth body,” said VP of Global Coffee Andrew Linnemann. “We are really proud of the roast and think customers are going to love experimenting with it.”

So give the new brew a shot the next time you order your Grande Caramel Cappuccino with three-and-a-quarter pumps of White Chocolate Syrup. Or just order an espresso, if they even still call it that. Once you go Blonde, you might just become fond.
