When you send a tweet out into the ether, you never really know who’s going to find it. Sometimes they go unnoticed. Other times, however, they get picked up by a World Series-winning Houston Astros player, who offers to buy pizza for your whole AP US History class.

James Yasco, a history teacher at Waco High School in Waco, Texas, is a Houston Astros fan in Dallas-based Texas Rangers territory. So when he told his class in August that he would buy them pizza if the then-struggling Astros won the World Series, the kids shrugged.

Well, the Astros ended up winning it all in November, and the class got its pizza party. Yasco jokingly snapped a picture of the Little Caesars boxes and tweeted it at the Astros to tell them just how much money their win had cost him: $54. He was naturally surprised when Astros first baseman Tyler White replied, “Got venmo?

“If you’re serious, I'll set up a Venmo account. These kids would flip if they found out a member of the World Champion Astros bought them pizza,” said Yasco in response.

But White was dead serious, and sent $60 to Yasco the following day.

"I was totally kidding," Yasko said. "It wasn't like I couldn't afford to pay rent because of the pizza party."

Ask and ye shall (sometimes) receive. You never know; your baseball heroes might just become your pizza heroes.
