Hardee’s Rocks Twitter with Fake Biscuit Inventions

Care for a spritz of “Bisquétte” perfume on National Buttermilk Biscuit Day?

Today is National Buttermilk Biscuit Day. Yes, that is oddly specific. But, then again, so is National Candied Orange Peel Day (which took place on May 4th). The point is Americans get to celebrate their favorite foods, and businesses get to create crazy advertising campaigns.

Hardee’s, naturally, has obliged. The fast food chain, which has been cranking out biscuits since the 1970’s, woke up its Twitter account at 4:30 a.m. on Monday morning with a gif of freshly-baked biscuits. The tweets descended into biscuit-fueled creativity as the Hardee’s social team posted ideas for creative (and non-existent) biscuit products.

In an email from Hardee’s, the brand announced that, in honor of National Biscuit Day, it was “introducing an idea for Bisquétte, the new biscuit-scented fragrance from Hardee's.”

“Now biscuit lovers like us don’t have to rub food all over themselves just to smell good,” the email continued.

In addition to smelling like freshly baked biscuits, Hardee’s also proposed a set of biscuit headphones (“Treats by 'Dee's—a new audiophonic experience for the ears AND the taste buds”), biscuit pillows, biscuit earrings and biscuit fuzzy dice for your car.

The brand prides itself on its biscuit ethic to the point where it posted an objectively creepy video of competing fast food chains early in the morning—shuttered, while a Hardee’s location was open and serving customers. Hardee’s and sister restaurant Carl’s Jr. both make buttermilk biscuits from scratch beginning in the early hours of the morning. Fresh batches are ready every 15 minutes.

While none of these creatively photoshopped products are actually available to purchase (we’d like to see you try on a pair of biscuit headphones), Hardee’s sausage biscuits cost about $2.
