Burger King Claims Its New Sandwich Is "Clinically Proven" to Cause Nightmares
But is there science to back up the claim?

Just looking at a green burger bun might be enough to turn some stomachs, but in a statement released earlier this week, Burger King actually claimed that its new “Nightmare King” sandwich causes nightmares for real.
The Nightmare King, which is made up of a quarter-pound of beef, a fried chicken fillet, thick bacon, mayonnaise and onions, is served on a Frankenstein-monster-esque glazed green bun.
To see if they could find a correlation between spooky burger consumption and dastardly dreams, Burger King teamed up with Florida Sleep & Neuro Diagnostic Services, Inc. to study participants’ sleep patterns after eating the new burger.
What they found was surprising. While other studies have shown an average nightmare rate of 4 percent for the whole population on any given night, according to somnologist Dr. Jose Gabriel Medina, those who ate the Nightmare King experienced a nightmare rate that was 3.5 times higher.
What was the cause? According to Dr. Medina, the overloaded combo of beef and chicken and cheese could have been to blame in interrupting the participants’ REM cycles.
An odd marketing move, showing the public that their burgers are detrimental to human sleep. But if you’re the kind of person who enjoys a good nightmare every once in a while, the Nightmare King will be available beginning October 22nd for as long as those cravable green buns last.
