It was a show that could have been pulled straight from the magical chocolate factory of Willy Wonka, but, alas, it was not. Instead, it was taking place in that other chocolate paradise that is Belgium.
Visitors to the 2018 Salon du Chocolat in Brussels were wowed on Thursday as they witnessed a parade of fashion models strut down the catwalk, dressed to the nines in chocolate. Yes, chocolate. Chocolatiers and fashion designers worked together to prepare for the show, which displayed the chocolate prowess of artisans from over 15 countries.
From dresses to hats to jewelry, the show, which is scheduled to happen each day of the salon at 5 p.m., pushed the boundaries of edible clothing, bringing us all one step closer to a more edibly comfortable future, filled with browns, whites and—thanks to formerly-Belgian Barry Callebaut’s newest chocolatey invention—pinks.
“Once again, it’s a dream that becomes reality and we are salivating already,” Brussels city mayor Philippe Close said in a statement, according to Reuters.
The first fashion show ended with no incidences of melting clothes or attacks by ravenous spectators, but stay tuned in the coming days, because you never know.
