Yummy Brownies

This is my mother's recipe.

• Serves: 12
• Yields: 12 brownies

Ingredients

• 2  cups sugar
• 1  cup butter flavor shortening
• 4  eggs
• 2  cups flour
• 4  tablespoons  cocoa (heaping)
• 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
• 2  teaspoons vanilla
• 1⁄4 teaspoon baking powder
• 1⁄2 cup walnuts, chopped (optional)

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 325.
2. Mix sugar, shortening and eggs.
3. Add dry ingredients.
4. Pour into 9x13 greased pan.
5. Bake for 30 minutes.
6. They're done when toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Do not overbake!
