Wild Rice With Bacon

Wonderful side dish with anything.

Serves: 8-9

Ingredients

  • 6  slices bacon, crisp cooked, break into pieces
  • 1  tablespoon butter or 1  tablespoon margarine
  • 1  cup  uncooked wild rice
  • 1 12 cups  sliced mushrooms
  • 2 -3  green onions, thinly sliced (about 1/4 cup)
  • 2 12 cups water
  • 12 teaspoon salt
  • 14 teaspoon pepper

Directions

  1. Melt butter in 10 inch frypan (non-stick) over medium heat.
  2. Cook wild rice, mushrooms and onions in butter about 3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until onions are tender.
  3. Stir in water, salt and pepper.
  4. Heat to boiling, stirring occasionally, reduce heat.
  5. Cover and simmer 40 to 50 minutes or until rice is tender, drain if necessary.
  6. Stir in bacon pieces.
