Wicked Good Apple Pie!

Great served warm with whipped cream and a scoop of vanilla ice cream!

Ingredients

  • Pie Filling

  • 6 -9  apples, peeled, cored and sliced thin, depending on size. Use a variety to your liking
  • 12 cup white sugar
  • 14 cup brown sugar
  • 14 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2  teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1  dash allspice
  • 2  tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 3 -4  tablespoons  soft butter (not melted)
  • Pie Crust

  • 2 (8 inch)  prepared  pastry shells
  • 1 -2  tablespoon  melted butter
  • 14 teaspoon vanilla
  •  cinnamon sugar, to Sprinkle on top of pie crust

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. Place sliced apples in a large bowl. In a small bowl combine white sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice and flour. Stir well and pour mixture over apples. Use half the butter and cut butter into small pieces and add to apples. Toss apples until thoroughly coated.
  3. Pour apples into pastry-lined pie pan. Dot apples with the rest of butter. Place second pastry on top. Seal edges.
  4. Melt butter. Add vanilla to butter. Mix and baste top pie crust (second pastry). Sprinkle cinnamon sugar over top pie crust.
  5. Cut steam vents in top crust.
  6. Bake in preheated oven for 45 to 55 minutes, until crust is golden brown.
