Whole Cranberry Sauce- Baked

My dear step-mother makes this recipe every holiday. It's a different method of making an old favorite. I love whole cranberry sauce and this is the best that I've found. Make this the day ahead for best results. Show more

Serves: 6-8

Ingredients

  • 4  cups  whole raw cranberries, washed
  • 2  cups sugar
  • 6  tablespoons Grand Marnier (optional, I prefer orange juice) or 6  tablespoons  orange liqueur (optional, I prefer orange juice)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Wash the cranberries and pick out any bad ones.
  3. Spread cranberries in a single layer on a cookie sheet. Sprinkle sugar evenly over the berries and cover tightly with foil. Seal around the edges.
  4. Bake for 40 - 50 minutes stirring the cranberries about mid-way.
  5. Remove from the oven and allow the cranberries to cool approximately 8 to 10 hours before removing the foil.
  6. Sprinkle with brandy or orange juice, if desired.
  7. Enjoy!
