Wheat Germ Crunch Cake

Ingredients
topping
- 1⁄4 cup butter
- 1⁄4 cup sugar
- 1 cup corn flakes, crushed
- 1⁄4 cup wheat germ
- 1⁄2 cup pecans, chopped
cake
- 2 cups flour
- 1⁄4 cup wheat germ
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 1⁄2 teaspoons salt
- 1 1⁄4 cups sugar
- 3⁄4 cup butter
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 3 eggs
- 1⁄2 cup milk
caramel sauce
- 1 1⁄2 cups brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 cup water
- 1 dash salt
- 4 tablespoons butter
Directions
- mix topping until crumbly( i made in food processor).
- press into bottom of tube pan.( i would butter or pam it next time ,kinda sticks).
- cream sugar and butter.
- add eggs and lemon zest.
- add dry ingredients.
- mix.
- spoon mixture on top of crumbs.
- bake 300 degrees 60 to 70 minutes.
- cool 15 minutes before flipping.
- caramel.
- cook everything but butter.
- stirring constantly til thick and clear add butter stir.
- serve over cake.
