Vinegar Pie

This recipe came from my greatgrandmother and I like it and thought that I would share it with everyone .Its a really big hit at the holidays. Thanks Norma Ivie Show more

Ready In: 35 mins

Serves: 4-6

Yields: 1-2 pies

Ingredients

  • 2  egg yolks
  • 1 12 cups water
  • 12 cup cider vinegar
  • 1  tablespoon  melted butter
  • 1 14 cups sugar
  • 13 cup flour
  • 12 teaspoon  lemon extract
  • 1  baked  pie shell, cooled

Directions

  1. In saucepan, combine beaten egg yolks with water, vinegar and melted butter.
  2. Mix sugar and flour together and stir into egg mixture, mixing until lumps are gone.
  3. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until the mixture comes to a boil and cooks thick.
  4. Add lemon extract and stir.
  5. Let cool, then pour into baked cooled pie shell.
  6. Chill until ready to serve.
