Velvet Cake

Yields: 1 double layer cake
Ingredients
- 2 1⁄2 cups flour
- 1 1⁄2 cups sugar
- 2 tablespoons cocoa
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 eggs
- 1⁄2 cup oil
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 ounces red food coloring
Directions
- Combine Dry ingredients (first 5 ingredients) into one large bowl and mix well.
- Combine Wet ingredients (Except Food Coloring) into another and mix well.
- Pour Wet ingredients into dry ingredients and mix together well.
- Add food coloring slowly (as it will sit on top of the mixture its wise to add slowly).
- Pour into 2 8" or 9" greased pans (8" in work better but 9" came out well).
- Bake at 350 Degrees for 30 minute.
- Allow to cool before adding frosting.
