Uncle Charlie's Cornbread

It says it cost .18 cents for each serving. I found this in Family Circle magazine. I have not tried this recipe, but I'm posting it for safe keeping. Show more

  1. Preheat oven to hot (400). Grease generously 8-inch black iron skillet.
  2. Mix cornmeal with buttermilk, egg, salt and baking soda. Stir in melted shortening. Pour in prepared skillet. Bake in preheated hot oven (400) till golden brown, about 25 minutes.
