Uncle Abe's Crumb Cake

A simple crumb cake that I used to make for my Uncle Edwin in Oregon,Ohio

Serves: 8

Yields: 8 pieces

Ingredients

  • 2  cups flour
  • 1  cup sugar
  • 12 cup oleo or 12 cup butter or 12 cup  Crisco
  • 1  teaspoon salt
  • 1  whole egg
  • 34 cup water (or anything you drink) or 34 cup milk (or anything you drink) or 34 cup  apple juice (or anything you drink)
  • 12 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1  teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 12 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1  teaspoon clove
  • 12 cup  chopped walnuts

Directions

  1. Using a pastry blender cut The first 4 ingredients into "pea size" pieces & save 1/2 cup for final topping.
  2. to the remaining "pea size pieces" make a well in the middle &.
  3. add and mix lightly all the remaining ingredients. Pour into a sprayed 9 inch pan
  4. and sprinkle that reserved 1/2 cup topping all over.
  5. Bake at 350 for 40 minutes.
