Turkish Soldier Buttons Cookies

I haven't made them yet but I'm looking forward to baking them.

• Yields: 24 cookies

Ingredients

• 2  cups all-purpose flour
• 1  cup powdered sugar
• 1  cup butter, softened
• 1  egg
• 1  teaspoon vanilla
•  strawberry jam

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
2. Lightly grease a cookie sheet.
3. Mix together flour, powdered sugar, butter, egg, and vanilla.
4. Shape dough in to 1-1/2 inch rounds; place on cookie sheet.
5. Press down the center with your thumb.
6. Fill each hole with jam.
7. Bake 12 minutes or until the bottoms are lightly browned.
