Turkey Dressing for the Holiday Bird
Ready In: 20 mins
Serves: 6-8
Ingredients
- 10 cups cubed bread
- 1 1⁄3 cups margarine (or butter)
- 2 cups celery (diced)
- 2 cups onions (chopped)
- 2 cups apples (peeled and diced)
- 1⁄2 cup raisins (optional)
- 2 tablespoons dried parsley (I use fresh when available)
- 1 1⁄2 teaspoons thyme
- 1 1⁄2 teaspoons sage (I like to add more)
- 2 tablespoons poultry seasoning
- 1 1⁄2 teaspoons salt (or to taste)
- 1 1⁄2 teaspoons pepper
Directions
- Cube the bread (I like to cube it the day before) dice and chop the apples and vegetables.
- In large pan add margarine; saute the celery and onion then add all the rest of the remaining ingredients - pour over the cubed bread.(I like adding the bread cubes to the pan and toss to mix).
- NOTE - this is the basic recipe - taste and add more of the seasonings you like until it is pleasing to you (I add more sage).
- Stuff the turkey breast and cavity using skewers where needed.
