Truth Serum 2.0 Margarita

Seeking a lower calorie alternative to the original Truth Serum (which uses lots of limeade, which is full of corn syrup and Triple Sec, which is loaded with sugar!), yet still refreshing and delicious (like the original Truth Serum), this is new take on Truth Serum will put a smile on your face! Serves: 4

Ingredients

  • 1  cup fresh lime juice
  • 1  cup  tequila (anything decent like Sauza Silver, Cazadores, Hornitos...)
  • 1  cup water
  • 5 -6  tablespoons  agave syrup
  • 2  teaspoons  orange liqueur (such as Grand Marnier, Cointreau, Origine)
  • 1  lime wedge
  •  salt, & sugar for the glass rim (equal parts of sea salt and sugar)

Directions

  1. Mix the lime juice, tequila and, water agave syrup in a measuring cup. Stir until the syrup is fully incorporated with the liquids.
  2. Take a lime wedge and run it around the rim of a glass; dip the glass into the salt/sugar mixture; take any excess salt/sugar off rim to make it look pretty!
  3. Fill the glass just halfway with margarita mix, fill the glass the rest of the way with ice cubes and stir.
  4. Pour a small "dollop" of orange liqueur on top of the ice (about 2 teaspoons).
  5. Add a lime wedge and serve!
  6. Make the concoction to suit your taste by adding more agave syrup (if you like it sweeter) or lime juice (for a more sour flavor).
  7. Enjoy!
