Triple Chocolate Cake

This cake starts with a cake mix, chocolate pudding mix and chocolate chips. But it is the Amaretto that sends it over the top! A friend brings this to work for special occassions. It is absolutely my favorite! Show more

Ingredients

  • CAKE

  • 1 (18 1/2ounce) box  deep  chocolate cake mix or 1 (18 1/2ounce) box  devil's food cake mix
  • 1 (4 ounce) box instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 34 cup sour cream
  • 12 cup  vegetable oil
  • 12 cup water
  • 14 cup mayonnaise
  • 4  eggs
  • 3  tablespoons  almond liqueur (Amaretto)
  • 1  teaspoon  almond extract
  • 1  cup chocolate chips
  • 1  cup  toasted almond (optional)
  • GLAZE

  • 1  cup powdered sugar
  • 3  tablespoons milk
  • 1  teaspoon  almond extract

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F Grease 10-inch bundt pan and dust with cocoa.
  2. Place all cake ingredients except the chocolate chips and almonds in a large bowl and beat for 2 minutes with an electric mixer on medium speed. Mix in the chocolate chips and alomnds and pour into the prepared pan. Bake for 50-55 minutes or until the cake tests done (you may need more time in your oven--I've needed as long as 75 min.). Cool on a rack for 10 minutes before removing from the pan.
  3. Mix all glaze ingredients in small bowl. Let stand at room temperature until.
  4. ready to glaze cake.
  5. Place warm cake on a serving dish and drizzle with glaze.
  6. A sprinkle of powdered sugar on the top may be another option--or you can go for broke with chocolate frosting!
