Too Easy Granola Bars (Muesli Bars)

I found this on the allrecipes website about 12 months ago and have altered it to suit my family. This is a regular in my kids' lunch boxes. I don't understand why people buy muesli bars when they are so fast and cheap to make from scratch. Recipe can be doubled and tripled; remember to use a larger tin though. Show more

  1. In a large bowl mix the rolled oats, brown sugar, wheat germ, cinnamon, and flour; stir.
  2. In large measuring jug add the honey, egg, vegetable oil, and vanilla; mix.
  3. Make a well and add the wet to the dry and mix like mad.
  4. Generously grease an 18x28cm (9x13 inch) tray.
  5. Pour in mixture; press with your fingertips.
  6. Bake at 175 degrees Celsius or 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 to 35 minutes (or until the sides are golden).
  7. Cool for 5 minutes.
  8. Slice into even fingers while warm (it will be too hard once cold).
  9. Cool in the baking tin.
  10. Keep in a well sealed jar for up to 5 days.
