Toasty Cheese Bake

Another recipe from texascook.com. This is a very good dish! It would be great for church socials or dinner parties.

• Serves: 4-6

Ingredients

• 8  slices  bread
•  margarine
• 1⁄2 lb ground beef
• 1⁄4 cup onion, chopped
• 2  tablespoons celery, chopped
• 1  tablespoon prepared mustard
• 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
• 1  cup sharp American cheese, shredded
• 1  egg, slightly beaten
• 3⁄4 cup milk
• 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
• 1  dash pepper
• 1⁄8 teaspoon dry mustard

Directions

1. Heat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Toast bread; butter both sides.
3. Cook and stir meat, onion, celery, prepared mustard and 1/2 teasooon salt until meat is brown and onion is tender.
4. Alternate layers of toast, meat mixture and cheese in greased baking pan.
5. Mix remaining ingredients; pour over layers in pan.
6. Bake uncovered 30 to 35 minutes.
7. Add paprika on top if you desire.
