Three Dollar Baked Beans

This is my favorite baked bean recipe. Sweet, smoky, tangy, and full of flavor. Plus the contrast in colors of the beans make the dish look interesting. Always a big hit at picnics or potlucks. The original recipe was called "Five Dollar Beans" but it called for a lot of extra ingredients. It had a wonderful flavor, adults loved it, but the kids thought that it looked "weird". So I adapted the recipe for picky eaters and I actually like it much better this way. It was my daughter's idea to rename this dish "Three Dollar Beans". Show more
