  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Grease a cookie sheet.
  3. Beat sugars, shortening, egg, vanilla and milk until smooth.
  4. Sift together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Add all at once to the shortening mixture.
  6. Add oats; mix well.
  7. Drop by teaspoons, and about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake 8-10 minutes until light brown.
