Texas Style Corn Bread

Ingredients
- 1 1⁄2 cups cornmeal
- 1⁄2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1⁄3 cup shortening, melted
- cream style corn
- 2 eggs
- 1 (6 ounce) can green chilies, chopped and drained
- 1 cup cheese, grated
Directions
- Mix all ingredients except chiles and cheese.
- Pour half batter into a 9 X 9 pan.
- Make a layer with half the chiles, sprinkle with haf.
- lf the cheese.
- Add remaining batter and top with remaining chiles and add remaining cheese.
- Bake for 45 min at 400* or until firm and golden brown.
