Texas BBQ Sauce

Somehow this recipe sauce was AOL. I can't imagine what I did for sauce! I found this recipe in a magazine about 20 years ago, and it's a very good sauce. As in most "sauce" recipes, feel free to add your own special touches to it. On occasion, I have put a dash or two of liquid smoke. It's a matter of taste.

• Ready In: 15 mins
• Yields: 2 cups

Ingredients

• 1  cup tomato puree
• 1⁄4 cup vinegar
• 1⁄4 cup catsup
• 1⁄4 cup Worcestershire sauce
• 2  tablespoons brown sugar
• 2  tablespoons paprika
• 2  teaspoons dry mustard
• 1⁄2 teaspoon  onion salt
• 1⁄2 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
• 3  dashes  of your favorite  hot sauce (optional)

Directions

1. In a 1-qt. saucepan, combine all ingredients in order.
2. Simmer, covered 5 minutes.
