Tessa's Nation-Wide Coveted Baked Beans. (Really)

Ingredients
- 1 (28 ounce) can baked beans
- 1 (14 1/2ounce) can black beans
- 1 small onion
- 4 garlic cloves
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried mustard
- 6 slices bacon
- 1 half bottle dark beer
- 1 quarter cup brown sugar
- 1 half teaspoon liquid smoke, pecan, mesquite, or hickory
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
Directions
- Brown the bacon.
- Then add the onion.
- After those are doing fine, add the garlic.
- Now add all of the rest of the ingredients except the beer.
- When the vegetables start to soften, add the beer and stir.
- Put into a 350 degree oven for one hour covered, and then lower the temp to 325 degrees and cook for another 35 to 40 minutes.
- It is important to watch the beans and see how thick they get.
- You do not want them dry or soupy.
- I cook in cast iron, so that is the only thing I can see that could turn out different for you.
