Directions

  1. Cut the dried figs in small pieces.
  2. Dissolve sugar in water and bring to a full boil.
  3. Skim off the foam.
  4. Add lemon juice.
  5. Place figs in the syrup and boil together on a medium flame. Gradually increase the flame, stirring mixture constantly to avoid burning.
  6. Add walnuts, pine nuts, sesame seeds and anise seeds and cook on low fire for five minutes stirring constantly.
  7. Remove from fire.
  8. Stir in mustikah (pectin).
  9. Pour into jars.
  10. Decorate tops with walnut halves which have been lightly toasted.
