Taco "salad"

Yields: 1 9x13 dish
Ingredients
- 3 lbs ground beef
- 2 teaspoons chili powder
- 2 teaspoons taco sauce (or more chili powder & cumin)
- 1 cup onion, chopped
- 1 (16 ounce) can diced tomatoes
- 2 (8 ounce) cans tomato sauce
- 2 (15 ounce) cans refried beans
- 16 ounces colby-monterey jack cheese (or your preferred cheese)
- 1 (7 ounce) bag tortilla chips
- 1 head lettuce
- 1 tomatoes
- 16 ounces sour cream
Directions
- brown beef, drain and rinse with water.
- add onion and seasoning.
- add tomatoes & simmer, uncovered until all juices are gone.
- put beef mix on bottom of dish.
- layer beans on top.
- add cheese.
- bake at 350 for 20-30 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- we liked to break up our tortilla chips and put them on the bottom, then dish out the taco "salad" on top and top it with the lettuce, tomato, sour cream, etc. to your liking.
