Taco Pizza With Cornbread Crust

My son and I started to "mess around" in the kitchen and we came up with this. (No more Taco Bell). Cook time includes browning of ground beef. Show more

Serves: 4

Ingredients

  • 1  lb ground beef
  • 1 (1 1/4ounce) package  taco seasoning mix
  • 23 cup water
  • 1 (8 ounce) package  shredded  Mexican blend cheese (divided)
  • 1 (4 ounce) can green chilies (drained)
  • 1  teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 12 teaspoons oregano
  • 1 (8 1/2ounce) package  corn muffin mix
  •  cooking spray

Directions

  1. Mix corn muffin mix as directed on package.
  2. Spread batter into a sprayed 12-inch pizza pan.
  3. Bake at 400°F for 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned.
  4. Brown meat and drain.
  5. Add seasoning package, water, and chilies.
  6. Simmer until water is absorbed.
  7. Sprinkle one cup of cheese over crust.
  8. Top with meat mixture.
  9. Sprinkle with crushed red peppers and oregano.
  10. Top with remaining cheese.
  11. Bake until cheese is melted.
  12. If desired you can also serve with lettuce, sour cream, and diced tomatoes.
