Supreme Sausage Casserole

A nice brunch treat! Preparation time does not include refrigeration time.

Serves: 10-12

Ingredients

  • For casserole

  • 20  links sausages
  • 14  slices  bread
  • 1  teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1 12 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 6  eggs
  • 4  cups milk
  •  paprika (optional)
  • For sauce

  • 13 cup  cream of mushroom soup
  • 13 cup  cream of chicken soup
  • 13 cup milk

Directions

  1. Brown and drain sausages.
  2. Cut into chunks.
  3. Trim crusts from bread and butter one side of each lightly.
  4. Layer half of the bread in a 9"x13" casserole.
  5. Sprinkle on 1 c shredded cheese and the sausage.
  6. Cover with remaining bread.
  7. Mix together eggs, milk, dry mustard and remaining 1/2 c cheese.
  8. Pour over bread and chill several hours or overnight.
  9. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes til knife comes out clean.
  10. During the last 10 minutes or so of baking, mix sauce ingredients together in sauce pan well and stir over med heat until warm.
  11. Sprinkle top of casserole with paprika.
  12. Serve with sauce.
