  1. Remove the core from the tomatoes, cut in half, and slice thinly. Peel and thinly slice the cucumbers. Cut the onion in half and slice thinly. Core the pepper and cut into thin strips. Combine all vegetables in a salad bowl.
  2. Combine sugar and vinegar in a small bowl. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Add oil, and salt and pepper to taste. Whisk vigorously, then pour over vegetables. Toss to coat. Let marinate 30 minutes at room temperature before serving.
