Stroganoff

Serves: 6

Ingredients

  • 1  lb  cubed beef (sirloin, mock chuck, stew meat)
  • 12 teaspoon salt
  • 12 teaspoon pepper
  • 1  tablespoon  vegetable oil (or olive oil, shortening, butter)
  • 1 (3 ounce) can mushroom pieces or 1  cup fresh mushrooms
  • 1  medium onion, chopped
  • 2  garlic cloves, grated
  • 1  cup  beef stock (or vegetable or beef boullion)
  • 12 cup sour cream

Directions

  1. Heat oil in skillet with lid.
  2. Saute beef, salt, pepper, onion, garlic, and mushrooms until brown.
  3. Add beef stock, turn down heat, cover and simmer for 30 minutes or so. Watch the level of broth - it should not cook completely down, so add water or broth if you need more.
  4. When meat is tender, remove from heat.
  5. Add sour cream and mix.
  6. Serve over cooked egg noodles.
