Split Pea Soup Jardiniere

Ingredients
- 2 1⁄2 quarts water
- 1 lb dried split green peas
- 1 meaty ham bone
- 1 onion, quartered
- 2 sliced leeks
- 2 celery ribs, sliced
- 2 carrots, sliced
- 2 small turnips, cubed
- 2 large tomatoes, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 4 whole cloves
- 2 teaspoons dried thyme
- 1 bay leaf
- salt and pepper
Directions
- Combine all ingredients in slow cooker. Cover and cook on low 6-8 hours.
- Remove ham bone and shred meat. Return meat to soup. Discard bones and bay leaf. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
