Split Pea Soup

Ingredients
- 1 cup split peas
- 5 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup water
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 large carrot, chopped
- 1 large celery rib, chopped
- 1 cup ham, cut in small pieces
- 1 large bay leaf
- 1 teaspoon marjoram
- 1 teaspoon thyme
- 1 fresh garlic clove, minced
- white pepper, to taste
Directions
- Rinse peas. Add all ingredients to a large pot. Bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat and simmer for 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Longer if you like thicker soup. Serve steaming hot with fresh baked bread. Enjoy!
