Spicy Mince

Serves: 4-6
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 1 onion, coarsely chopped
- 1 garlic clove, crushed
- 500 g lean ground beef
- 2 teaspoons ground cumin
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- 1⁄2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1⁄2 cup tomato paste
- 1 cup water or 1 cup stock
- 1 pinch sugar
- salt
Directions
- Heat oil in a large pan over medium high heat; add onion and garlic and cook, stirring frequently for 2-3 minutes or until softened.
- Add mince in small batches and cook until browned and crumbly. Stir in spices and cook until spices are fragrant.
- Add tomato paste into mince and mix well. Add water or stock and bring to the boil; reduce heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes. The mince should be tender and the sauce thickened. Season to taste with sugar and salt.
