Spicy Fruit Finishing Glaze for Barbecue

Ingredients
- 3⁄4 cup water
- 2 tablespoons cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons light brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger or 1⁄4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1⁄8 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 -1 1⁄2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- 1⁄2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1⁄4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
- 1⁄2 small onion, minced
- 1 1⁄2 cups fruit preserves (such as raspberry, peach, apricot, cherry or your favorite)
Directions
- In a small saucepan over low heat, stir together water and the next 10 ingredients. Simmer, uncovered, until onion bits are very soft, about 5 minutes. Add preserves and simmer, uncovered, about 20 minutes. Mixture may appear a little thin, but will thicken.
- Cool to room temperature then refrigerate until ready for use. Refrigerate up to 2 weeks.
- Apply as you would barbecue sauce in the last few minutes on the grill.
