Spicy Cherry and Apple Chutney

Ingredients
- 1 (15 ounce) can dark sweet cherries, drained
- 1 large tart apple, pared, cored, diced
- 3⁄4 cup vinegar
- 3⁄4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 1⁄2 teaspoons fresh garlic, minced
- 1⁄4 teaspoon red chile, crushed (optional)
Directions
- In a heavy medium-size saucepan, combine all ingredients & bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat & simmer 20 to 30 minutes until thickened.
- Serve hot or cold with any type of meat. Rrefrigerate any leftovers.
