Spanish Rice

from handwritten school book 1930s im cooking in rice cooker not double boiler like mild rice dish NOT real spanish rice this is what they cooked in midwest

Ingredients

• 1⁄2 cup rice
• 1  tablespoon butter
• 1  onion, slice
• 1 1⁄4 cups boiling water
• 1  cup tomatoes, diced
• 1  teaspoon salt
• 1⁄8 teaspoon pepper

Directions

1. cook in double boiler until rice is tender.
2. i fried my onion in butter first and cooked in rice cooker.
