Spaghetti Sauce Texan Style

Ingredients
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 8 ounces sliced mushrooms
- 3 minced garlic cloves
- 1 1⁄2 lbs ground beef
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- 1 teaspoon basil
- 1 teaspoon italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ground pepper
- 1⁄2 teaspoon thyme
- 1 teaspoon parsley
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar
- 6 ounces tomato paste (can)
- 32 ounces tomato sauce (can)
- 28 ounces diced tomatoes (fresh)
- parmesan cheese
Directions
- Sauté bell pepper and onions on low about 15 minutes or until onions are clear and soft.
- Add mushrooms and garlic and sauté until slightly browned.
- Brown beef with bay leaves, oregano, basil, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, thyme and parsley.
- Add tomato paste, sauce, diced and brown sugar.
- Cover and simmer for at least 1 1/2 hours or all day.
- Top cooked spaghetti with sauce and parmesan.
