Sorrel Drink

A traditional Christmas - New Year's drink in the Caribbean--very refreshing and very popular.

Directions

  1. Wash sorrel, cut away seeds.
  2. Place in jar with orange peel & cloves.
  3. Pour on boiling water.
  4. Allow to remain for 24 hours.
  5. Strain & sweeten with sugar.
  6. Pour into bottles, adding few grains of rice (this helps fermentation).
  7. Allow to remain for at least another day.
  8. Serve with ice.
