Smoky Killer BBQ Sauce

I forget where I got this recipe but I will never forget to make it when I need a killer BBQ sauce! This recipe is one of the best BBQ sauces that I have found! Please let me know what you think!

Ingredients

• 2  tablespoons  vegetable oil
• 1⁄4 cup  minced fresh onion
• 1 1⁄2 cups water
• 1⁄2 cup tomato paste
• 1⁄2 cup white vinegar
• 1⁄2 cup brown sugar
• 2  tablespoons honey
• 1  tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
• 1 3⁄4 teaspoons salt
• 1  teaspoon liquid smoke
• 1  teaspoon  whiskey
• 1⁄4 teaspoon fresh coarse ground black pepper
• 1⁄8 teaspoon garlic powder
• 1⁄8 teaspoon paprika

Directions

1. Heat oil in a medium sauce pan over medium-high heat.
2. Saute the onion for 5 minutes until they start the brown.
3. Add the remaining ingredients and bring mixture to boil then reduce heat and simmer for 1 ¼ hours, uncovered, or until the sauce thickens.
4. Remove from heat.
