Sloppy Joe's on Cornbread

Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 3⁄4 cup chopped onion
- 1⁄2 cup chopped sweet pepper
- 1⁄2 cup chopped celery
- 1 grated carrot (about 3/4 cup)
- 2 1⁄2 cups canned whole tomatoes, undrained (about one and one-quarter 16oz-ounce cans)
- 16 ounces tomato puree
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 3⁄4 teaspoon salt
Directions
- Brown ground beef in big iron skillet, about 4 minutes. Stir in onion, green pepper and celery and fry until brown, about 8 minutes. Add carrot, tomatoes and tomato puree. Stir mixture well and season with pepper and salt. Simmer 45 minutes.
- Serve over hot buttered corn bread.
