Simply Dirty Rice

An easy, delicious recipe for a no-mess dirty rice dish.

Serves: 5-6

Ingredients

  • 3 (10 1/2ounce) cans  beef consomme
  • 1 (10 1/2ounce) can  cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 12 cups  uncooked rice
  • 12 lb sage sausage
  • 12 medium sweet onion, chopped
  • 4  tablespoons salted butter (stick butter)
  • 4  tablespoons dried parsley

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Brown sausage and onion in a large skillet.
  3. Mix beef consume, mushroom soup, rice, and cooked sausage and onion in a dutch oven (cast iron is always best).
  4. Slice the stick butter into thin slices and heavily layer on top of mixture.
  5. Top the dish with all of the parsley.
  6. Cover the dutch oven and bake for 1 hour. Fluff with a fork to check, but
  7. **do not "stir" the rice until ready to serve**.
