Simple but Great Cocktail Sauce

Really good Cocktail Sauce depends on the quality of ketchup you use! I use Hunts. Another tip is that this recipe calls for "prepared" horseradish NOT horseradish "sauce". You will find the prepared horseradish in the refrigerated section by the sour cream, cheese and cream cheese. The brand that our local grocery store carries is Kaft. This will stay good in the fridge for weeks in an air tight container. Show more

Directions

  1. Put ketchup in a bowl.
  2. Mix in 1-2 tablespoons of horseradish. This step will determine the amount of heat the cocktail sauce will have. Start out with adding just a little horseradish, stir and test. Add little by little till desired kick. We like so much in ours that it makes our eyes water!
  3. Squeeze in juice from 1/2 to a whole lemon. Mix.
  4. It's better if you cover or put in airtight container for several hours be fore serving.
  5. If it gets too much of a kick stir in more ketchup!
