  1. Saute shrimp and clams in 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat for 5 minutes. Remove shrimp and clams from skillet. In same skillet add diced bacon and cook until crispy and crumbly. Add diced potatoes with onions and carrots and saute stirring frequently for 5 minutes.
  2. In a large stockpot melt the remaining stick of butter. Once melted stir in the flour and mix until no lumps remain. Over medium heat add the milk and clam juice and bring to a boil stirring frequently.
  3. Stir in the seafood, vegetables and spices and turn to a simmer for 30 minutes.
