Savory Saucy Pasta

Ingredients
- 1 (24 ounce) jar spaghetti sauce
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 3 cups dry pasta
- 1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped
- 2 medium carrots, coarsely chopped
- 2 celery ribs, coarsely chopped
- 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons dried Italian seasoning, crushed
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic salt
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 whole bay leaf
- 2 tablespoons cooking oil
Directions
- Using a 4 or 6 quart saucepan, saute onions, carrots, garlic, and celery in the cooking oil until slightly tender, about ten minutes, over medium low heat.
- Add pasta sauce, broth or stock, dried herbs, chili powder, and bay leaf into pan and stir well. You could also add a teaspoon of sugar if you like your sauce a little sweeter.
- Bring mixture to a light boil.
- Add pasta of your choice to saucepan and cover.
- Turn heat down to simmer slowly, stirring occasionally making sure to keep pasta moist.
- Let simmer 15-20 minutes or until pasta is tender.
- Remove bay leaf and serve.
