Savory Chickpeas

I made and loved Rita L's chole the other night. This is my usual recipe which is just different enough to add to here too. Show more

  1. Heat oil in a frying pan, add onions, garlic and ginger and stir over medium heat for 5 minutes or until onions are soft.
  2. Stir in turmeric and garam masala and stir a further minute.
  3. Stir in the water, tomatoes, chili, bay leaves, chick peas, half the coriander and salt.
  4. Simmer gently for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally to make sure it isn't catching.
  5. Stir in remaining coriander and lemon juice and serve.
