Sausage and Beans Casserole

This is another easy recipe. I use hot dogs in this a lot or you can use smoked sausage if you wish. A very hearty meal, perfect main course for the winter served with some biscuits and a salad! You can easily double this to feed more people. Show more

Serves: 4-6

Ingredients

  • 1 (16 ounce) can  baked beans
  • 12 lb  hot dogs or 12 lb kielbasa
  • 1  medium onion, chopped
  • 2 -3  tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 -2  tablespoon mustard
  • 18 teaspoon salt
  • 14 teaspoon pepper
  • 1  cup  fine dry breadcrumb
  • 4  tablespoons butter, melted

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Pour baked beans into a lightly greased 11x7 inch casserole dish.
  3. Slice hot dogs or sausage into 1/2 inch pieces.
  4. Chop onion.
  5. Stir the ketchup, mustard, salt and pepper into beans in pan.
  6. Gently stir in hot dogs and onion.
  7. Melt the butter and mix with the breadcrumbs.
  8. Place buttered bread crumbs on top of bean mixture and smooth over top with a spoon.
  9. Bake for 15-20 minutes until bubbly and hot.
