Salisbury Steak for Two

Ingredients
- 1⁄3 cup dry breadcrumbs
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄8 teaspoon pepper
- 2 tablespoons finely minced onions
- 1⁄3 cup milk
- 2 teaspoons soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon beef bouillon powder
- 1 lb lean ground beef
SAVORY SAUCE
- 1 tablespoon butter or 1 tablespoon hard margarine
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄2 cup apple juice
- 1 cup skim evaporated milk
- 2 teaspoons chopped green onions
Directions
- FOR THE SALISBURY STEAK: Measure bread crumbs, salt, pepper, onion, milk, soy sauce and bouillon powder into bowl. Stir.
- Add ground beef. Mix well. Shape into 4 small oval patties 3/4 inch thick. Broil 8 to 10 minutes per side until browned and cooked through. Makes 4 “steaks”.
- FOR THE SAVORY SAUCE: Melt butter in frying pan. Mix in flour and salt. Stir in apple juice, milk and green onion. Heat and stir until mixture boils and thickens, being sure to loosen any brown bits in pan. Pour over steaks. Serves 2.
