- Scald milk with sugar and salt.
- Pour slowly into beaten eggs, stirring rapidly.
- Add vanilla, strain into custard cups.
- Place cups in a shallow pan of hot water, sprinkle with nutmeg.
- Bake at 325* for 30 min or until custard is set.
- Cool and serve.
- This short baking time is only possible if the custard is hot and is placed in the oven immediately.
